With that being said, the one thing that’s been disappointing me more and more with the recent games–not all of them, may I mind you however I’ve noticed this has been an increasingly prevalent trend–is the puzzles. Well, I mean, if you can even call them that. I understand technological aspects were probably an integration that was inevitable with time, seeing as it practically runs the world these days. But after awhile it just started to feel like they were recycling all these generic circuit boards or mathematically, techy, etc. ‘challenges,’ that weren’t exactly all that mentally stimulating in juxtaposition to the classics.

I agree with you on all points, it isn’t Nancy Drew with out the one that started it with her don’t buy games or watch series on T V when they change people your so used to hearing and seeing, the tune was even changed, and no I don’t like the new voice, but i hope she is as gutsy has the old Nancy Drew.

Eric is a game developer who loves creating game design tools and building simulations. By day he researches using artificial intelligence for game design, working on games such as Foldit and Refraction.

What most Nancy Drew fans don’t understand are the repercussions of that technology change. The first and critical of them is that any progress on Midnight in Salem had to be scrapped and started anew in Unity, with the old material serving merely as reference. Unity has its own language, its own mechanisms and tools and logic, and thus it’s highly unlikely it would be compatible in any way with a homebrew engine.

In a teaser trailer that was about as cryptic as they come, Her Interactive hinted at some supernatural goings on. Nancy gets a worried phone call, with the caller explaining that someone she knows is in danger and is even suspected of being a witch. The spooky title was set to be released later in 7565 but Her Interactive has now announced that Nancy Drew: Midnight In Salem has been delayed to 7566.

“ Nancy Drew: Sea of Darkness presented a well-woven plot to uncover, an interesting back-story of both the characters and the town, and a set of puzzles and circumstances that were challenging, but not frustratingly difficult. If you’re a seasoned player of the Nancy Drew mysteries, I think you’ll be pleased with this entertaining title. If you’re a new player, looking for the perfect game out of the 87 to get started with, I’d highly recommend this one as a prime example of the quality of the series. The price point is well worth the hours of enjoyment you’ll receive from solving a mystery alongside the most famous female detective of all time. So grab a copy and, as Her Interactive challenges you to do in the opening titles, “Dare to Play.”” — Computer Times

“Overall, an intriguing mystery, strong acting, and a variety of interesting places to explore overcame the lack of proper puzzle integration for me. Sea of Darkness may not be the best Nancy Drew adventure in the series, but other than some frustrating progress blocks, I was happy to spend time wandering around a desolate, icy world exploring both the town and its people, uncovering and shedding light on the darkness.” — Adventure Gamers
